Nursing Assistant Job Description
Definition
The Nursing Assistant performs assigned duties for patient care in a variety of
settings in accordance with the regulation set forth by the State of Georgia
and the policies of Trimark Health Services to maintain the safety, health and
welfare of patients.
Level of Responsibilities
Receives assignments and works under the direct supervision of a professional nurse.
Requirements
-
Successful completion of a nurse aid training and
competency evaluation program recognized by the State of Georgia
Department of Human Resources/ OR successful completion of a competency
examination for nurse aides recognized and approved by the State of
Georgia Department of Human Resources/ OR successful completion of
health care/ personal care credentialing program recognized and approved
by the State of Georgia Department of Human Resources.

Understanding
of and ability to practice safety measures. Participation in a light duty program if required.

Knowledge of nutrition and food services.

Knowledge and skills and accuracy in observing, reporting, and recording.

Ability to communicate effectively.

Ability to lift at least 50 pounds, assisting with patient transferring and
ambulation.

Ability to read and understanding instructions for patient care.
-
Participation in a drug free work place and the Company drug policy.
-
Attend a minimum of 8 hours of staff development and/or in-service every year.
Duties and
Responsibilities – Care Related
-
Assistance with bathing, toileting, grooming, shaving, dental care, dressing, meal
preparation, and eating.

Assistance with treatment procedures.

Assistance with ambulation, transfer and positioning.
-
Provide light housekeeping services.
-
Preparation service of meals and shopping for food.
-
Assistance
with oral medications which are ordinarily self administered.
-
Reporting to supervisor any changes in the patient condition.
-
Contributing to the plan for patient care.

Teaches simple health and homemaking skills related to disease prevention and
safety.
General Duties
-
Maintenance
of Patient Daily Records and reports.
-
Participation
in safety policies of the Company.

Reporting
to supervisor any safety hazards.
-
Transportation
of ill clients.

Participation in staff development and in-services.
-
Interpretation
of nursing instructions for patients and families.
Management reserves the right to require an occupational physical stress exam when
appropriate.
